‘’My mother has been struggling significantly at home, and I feel that Adult Social Care does not fully grasp the personalised care she needs. It has been a constant battle to secure the necessary support for her. Despite her being palliative, it seems she is not being taken seriously, and the care package she requires has been excessively delayed. The fast-track funding process, which is supposed to be swift, has not been the case for my mother.
I am incredibly grateful for the staff team for navigating this for us and provided carers from the community to help my mother get by on a daily basis. They intervened and guided us through every step of this journey, which I had no idea how to manage. Without their support we would have been completely lost.’’

‘’I am a cancer patient living with my son and daughter-in-law after my diagnosis. My wife also has Parkinson’s and we both now rely on daily support.
Ayesha and Nahida have been guiding us as we were initially unaware of the support available. With their help, my daughter-in-law followed the necessary steps to seek assistance. Ayesha also attended the meeting with the social worker and highlighted my need for support with personal care, such as helping me perform wudu for prayers. My cancer treatments leave me very weak and unable to move easily but maintaining cleanliness for prayer and wearing my traditional Pakistani outfits is important to me. Being homebound, I feel lonely and dependent on my son and daughter-in-law for most things, which makes me feel like a burden. I had hoped for carers who could help me go out and respect my culture, traditions, and religious practices. However, after the care needs assessment, the proposed care package didn’t meet my needs. I rejected it because my family is already doing more than what was offered, but I wish there was more understanding and tailored support for the Asian community. I have worked my whole life in the UK, and it’s disheartening to find such little help in my old age. Thank you to the girls for being there for me and my wife.’’
